About Me

Bio
Floe Foxon is an interdisciplinary scientist who specialises in modelling and simulation. He holds a Master of Science degree in Data Science (Statistics) from the University of Leeds with a Distinction award, and a First Class Honours degree in Physics with Astronomy from the University of Nottingham. As an undergraduate student, Floe was awarded a First Year Scholarship Award for Academic Achievement; completed a research scholarship with Sanford Research on population health modelling; and was published in peer-reviewed journals twice with his university project on stellar simulation modelling, and his personal project on cryptography.
Since then, Floe has published dozens of works on varied topics from astronomy and public health to cryptography and zoology, using a wide range of statistical and computational methods including machine learning, system dynamics, and Bayesian statistics for prediction and for inference. His first book, Folklore and Zoology, was published by CRC Press in 2024. Floe has presented his works internationally at scientific conferences including HistoCrypt, the meeting of the American Astronomical Society, and Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco annual meetings.
Floe’s works have featured in Science, New Scientist, Popular Mechanics and others, earning recognition for his scientific assessment of pseudoscientific claims including the bigfoot myth and the ‘gateway’ drug hypothesis. He has over five years of experience as a statistician, scientist, and data analyst in the pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare industry, where he provided scientific consulting on products for approval or authorisation by the US Food and Drug Administration. BBC Radio’s Colin Murray described Floe as “Scully and Mulder in one.”
